Firstly we have to thank God for such an amazing week of his blessing. We had 82 campers, all of whom stayed for the whole week with only one minor injury occurring!
Our team of leaders were amazing and the week ran without any problems because of their hard work and preparation beforehand. It is always such a blessing to be part of a group of people who love God and love one another and are so eager to serve Him and see His kingdom come.
Dave Pegg was our Padre and spoke very powerfully on the subject of ‘Jesus Stories’ essentially delivering the gospel in a direct and simple way which the campers responded to fantastically with 5 making a commitment for the first time and many affirming their faith. We had an awesome communion evening as well where campers were invited to share their ‘Jesus story’ and many came up and gave moving testimonies of what God is doing in their lives.
We had an incredible week as always and praise God for his protection and blessing. Our prayer requests would be for those campers who became Christians for the first time, that they would receive the necessary support and we would see them again next year when they can share their Jesus story! Also for those who were brave enough to stand up and make a promise to God, that they would be affirmed when they get home to continue walking in God’s path for them.
Quote from Matt & Biddy Hooper, Camp Managers
“Camp for us is the week of the year that we can safely say we WOULDN’T miss! Both being campers ourselves we have many memories of crazy games, water fights, sleepless nights, awesome worship and thought provoking talks that have shaped us into the people we are today. Therefore it seems only natural that we are now part of the team leading Junior Mixed.
We love meeting the young people each year and getting to know them better, hearing their points of view and watching them exhibit their talents throughout the week! They are the ones that make every year different and who leave the officers going home more inspired than when we went!
We are always bowled over by what God does during those four weeks of DCYC and we feel hugely blessed to be a part of it”
“A great opportunity to serve God and see amazing things happen in young people’s lives!”
Naomi – Officer
