(Well actually, in a tent in a field, by the sea, in South Devon!)

Girls Camp

‘It was an amazing week at Girls camp, although we didn’t have the best weather we still had a great time. We did so many fun activities from going to an aquarium to shopping in Dartmouth. We also saw one of our Leaders get baptised in the sea which was really good and made a lot of people think about what God means to them. In the morning sessions we learnt about David and how we can relate to him which was a good eye opener for us. Overall we have learnt and grown so much over the week.’ – Anna, 14

We had 76 girls booked into camp and 40 officers on site. As usual God provided us with a great team, and blessed us with several new officers, although this gave us new challenges ensuring everyone had a role on camp. Our cooks did us proud again, Hazel & Margaret now retire and hopefully enjoy a well-earned rest!! We thank them hugely for the fantastic service they have given to DCYC.

On the Sunday we were truly blessed as one of our officers, Steph had decided to be baptised at Blackpool Sands, as camp had been such a positive influence and a special place for her as a camper and now as a leader. Our speaker this year was Hannah Richards, and she talked to the campers about the life of David different stages of his journey and how we can relate to him and also to learn from him.

Our evening sessions were led by our leaders, and gave the campers a variety of sessions, from ministry in Brazil to preparing ourselves for the race that lies before us. The Thursday evening was our communion, which was truly blessed by God. Many girls were moved by the realisation of how much God loves them. Several campers became Christians that evening with 8 that we know of over the whole week.

We were encouraged to see 10-15 Christian girls attend the small group discussions about going deeper with their faith, 6 of them standing up in our final session and telling the whole camp how the sessions had really helped them in their walk with Him, and how they will ensure that they support each other.

Another week of hard work for all involved but what an amazing privilege to be chosen by God and trusted with the work of DCYC, we thank God for another brilliant year at Girls camp, for new friendships, and old ones renewed between leaders and campers. The team served God and each other with love resulting in several of the girls finding God for themselves for the first time and even more going home with a deeper understanding of God, and a yearning to continue their walk with Him.
Praise God!!
